Superb Beauty June 8, 2004 33 out of 33 found this review helpful
If I could give it 10 stars I would. This is a beautiful work of art and not only good looking, it does actually work as it should and is built like a tank. Its simple to use and really easy to clean and even bleeps at you when your toast is ready, only thing it doesnt do is butter it for you. Optional extras include a Sandwich rack and a bun warmer, although the latter doesnt seem to be available in the UK yet. This is a highly recommended toaster, forget Dualit, buy this one.
Premium quality, great features, superb toast. Forget the rest! December 22, 2007 HP Sauce (Essex, England) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is an expensive but incredibly well made piece of kit. It appears to have been constructed from military grade components and all the controls have a satisfyingly weighty feel -- it's hard not to stand there and twiddle with them. More importantly it makes great toast, cooking evenly and quickly across all four slots, and optional accessories (available elsewhere on Amazon) offer you the chance to make toasted sandwiches and warm buns. It's also smarter than your average toaster in the way there's a short 'beep' when the toast is done, the way it reduces cooking time if the equipment is already up to temperature (preventing bread getting increasingly black the more you cook), and in the way it leaves the toast inside the toaster afterwards allowing it to stay warm. Those of you who appreciate proper crunchy toast, simply wait a minute after you hear the beep. Perfectly done. To summarise, forget your Dualits and DeLonghis -- we've all bought them -- this KitchenAid is the one that actually walks the walk. The one downside is that, unlike more famous KitchenAid products assembled in Greenville, Ohio, U.S.A., this one's made in China. Can't have everything.
Well made solid piece of kit ! July 5, 2008 Reggs (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Huge cost for a toaster but I decided to splash out as I was sick of toasters packing up on me and having to replace them every year or so. Its certainly well built, solid, heavy and gorgeous to look at. Ignore negative comments about uneven cooking, it toasts as well as a good oven grill, evenly and consistently well. What don't I like? The cost. No need to be this expensive in my opinion. Its probably worth 70- 80, but you can't have one for that price ;-) If its an issue for you then you will be unhappy with forking out this much money. Also, it doesn't pop the toast up which is really odd at first, but this feature keeps the bread hot inside the toaster at the end of cooking. The stalks or handles used to lift out the toast once done, are super smooth to use and feel solidly constructed. Also there are seperate dual steel crumb trays, again beatifully and solidly constructed. In summary - Buy it if you can afford it! It will probably live longer than you do. Oh and make sure you have enough space for it on the kitchen counter it takes up a lot of space !
Not impressed May 30, 2008 Calico (UK) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had read glowing reviews about this product and having had so many toasters that broke just out of guarantee I decided to splash out thinking that it would last for years. It arrived promptly and I was eager to try it out. Was surprised to find that the slice of bread I put in was overcooked on one side and undercooked on the other. Tried again while looking at the elements. I saw that some of the elements on one side did not heat up - explaining the very uneaven toasting. When you pay this much for a toaster you expect it to work well!!
