Great toaster July 29, 2007 Wellington 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this toaster.I am just about to replace mine with the same model (the last one was dropped on the floor!!)as it is so good.
perfect toast at last!! January 7, 2008 Mrs. E. A. Coxall Having put up with my old useless toaster for long enough, I decided to buy the Breville instead. It's great!! Perfectly done toast every time. I wish I had got one sooner.
Well designed, badly made. February 1, 2008 WaitingForTheTide (Cornwall, England) When it works this toaster is fine, very good infact. It makes decent toast, and the adjustment controls are simple and seem to work fairly well. On the down side, it only worked for about 3 months before it started to deteriorate. It started off only some of the time you'd press down to start the toaster and it would jump straight back up again. Then it happened more and more until it always did it. So we've ended up having to stand with your hand pushing down on it whilst your toast cooks. What makes this worse is that the toasting time is getting longer and longer, and the heat grills on the inside are getting weaker and weaker. Suffice to say, we've had enough and we're getting a new one. Maybe we were unlucky, but I would strongly suggest comparing the quality of other toasters and doing some research into the craftsmanship of various other brands before buying a new toaster, or you could end up here writing about your dissappointment!
It looks good... July 23, 2005 G Murray (Scotland) 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
Unfortunately it fails to do what we expected a toaster to do; make toast! What you usually get is bread toasted more on one side than the other with most of the toasting taking place on the top of the slice. The toaster has 5 settings and usually anything over setting 2 will generate carbon to one degree or another. If you get reasonable toast on setting 2 and then decide to put more bread in, the next batch will be rather crisp to say the least. On the good side, it does look quite nice...
has a mind of its own August 7, 2007 M. Miller 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am currently browsing for a new toaster as the Breville Lightening is the worst toaster I have ever bought. It decides for itself when to pop the toast up,I can set it to number 9 and it will pop up at number2, or3, or4. Sometimes it wont even keep the bread down at all, and I have to revert back to the grill on the cooker. Not ideal when you are rushing to work in the morning.
