Big capacity, compact body August 15, 2009 Olly (UK) 33 out of 33 found this review helpful
After my trusty and reliable Tefal Avanti Hi-Speed Toaster, 4 Slice, Polished Chrome died falling off the worktop while cleaning, I had to find a decent 4 slot toaster to replace it. After buying this, I almost wish I'd broken my old toaster sooner.
The problem many 4 slot toaster designs suffer from is an oversized outer casing and small slots. The Kenwood overcomes both these problems by having just 2 very long slots which accomodate just about anything you would sensibly attempt to toast. Additionally, the sleek white outer casing ensures it is no wider and not much longer than a normal 2 slot model.
It features all the usual things you would expect on a modern toaster, variable browning on a long slider, defrost and cancel buttons as well as a rather handy reheat button. The Hi-lift feature, raising the lever up, is next to useless though as there is not enough travel to reach small items. However, I've yet to find a toaster where Hi-lift actually works properly. So unplug first before resorting to a fork.
Toasting of bread is usually uniform but longer toasting items such as crumpets or frozen potato waffles may need to be turned once to ensure even browning.
To Sum Up: A surprisingly big capacity for such a compact looking toaster.
Kenwood 4 slice toaster December 27, 2009 A. G. Jones (Kent, UK) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
After yonks our Kenwood cool wall failed. Got a Hinari. Poor performance. Hunted loads of makes and for price and fuction went back to the Kenwood. Two long slots so much more useful than 4 ordinary slots. Can toast long slices and not need to cut to fit. Cool wall, easily cleaned. Does not mark like stainless steel or chrome. Hopefully will last another 15 years like the previous Kenwood. Also noticed one can buy spares for them.
Great basic toaster..so far does perfect toast every time! May 8, 2009 V. Smith 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
We have had this toaster for about a month now and it does perfect toast every time. I don't like my toast well done, just nicely browned and this I get on the number 2 setting. My husband likes his toast burnt and the number 6 setting is pretty good for this. My kids like warm bread and the number 1 does just that!!!!
It is a basic toaster and that is all I have ever owned so I have no idea how it would compare to one of those flashy expensive models...but I only want a toaster to toast things!! I have used it for bagels with no problems. The slider for the browning settings feels cheap and you think it will have no effect on the colour of your toast, but it seems to work fine! There is a defrost option which I haven't used and a warm up option which I also haven't tried.
It cancels simply by pulling the slider up. All in all a great buy and I would recommend it to anyone who likes there toast and doesn't want to pay the earth to get it.
Excellent toaster January 19, 2010 Petercats (Manchester, England) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
We bought one of these toasters a few years ago. We chose it because it was about the only four-slice toaster with a plastic casing. So many were stainless steel or chrome, where all the fingerprints show up and make the case look scruffy. It was also "cat friendly"... our cats sometimes jump up and walk past the toaster, which could be on. The plastic case stays cool, and won't burn them as metal could.
It has behaved perfectly. I have just bought another from Amazon... as a spare to keep in stock in case the original one ever goes wrong. I was amazed to see Amazon still stocked them, as they don't seem to be in the shops.
The only minus point I can see is the browning control... it would be better if it was stiffer to move, it can get knocked and reset.
Kenwood TTP 103 toaster (4-slice) October 28, 2009 Sue O (Devon, England) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This toaster is quite large compared with my previous 4-slice toaster but so far it seems to work well. I like my toast very slightly golden and it does this on setting number 2. It works with one slice (I always put a single slice in sideways) or with multiple slices.
There is one big disadvantage though - the power cord is very short indeed and would not reach the wall socket from where the old toaster was so I have had to move the new toaster to another position in the kitchen.
