Not the gimmick I expected! February 17, 2009 J. Stock (Staffordshire, UK) 47 out of 47 found this review helpful
I half expected this to be a bit gimmicky. I thought it would be a pain to clean and be fiddly to use, rendering it another kitchen gadget suitable for the back of a cupboard.
But how wrong I was!
I do probably use it for the exactly the reasons the designer had in mind, but it's perfect for that. The eggs are perfect muffin size and really easy to cook to the softness you like. Also, the 'round' part of bacon rashers match the size of the eggs and muffin too.
I'm always in a rush in mornings, but put in the right amount of water (using the measure provided) put the egg in the pan, the 2 muffin halves in the toaster and press the button. Then I can wander off or make a cuppa tea and it's all ready. I disagree with the review that said you have to watch it like a hawk to get the eggs soft. Plus, I need not have worried about cleaning it, it simply wipes clean.
I'm really happy with it, but must be honest, I haven't tried to boil eggs or used any large slices of bread. I haven't yet tried to cook bacon on the 'cooked meat heater' so not sure if they say you can only heat pre-cooked meats incase someone tries to cook a chicken breast on it and wonder why it's raw and they feel very ill!
I didn't buy it as a regular toaster replacement, but as a quick and warm alternative to eating cereal for breakfast.
If you add a slice of cheese and rasher of bacon you have a much better version of a McMuffin, in my opinion.
Brilliant June 18, 2008 K. Hughes (UK) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
I am really impressed with this. It takes no time at all to make poached egg on toast. You can choose the softness or hardness of the egg by the measuring jug provided.
Bad Points? I too wish it did 2 poached eggs at once.
Very pleased with it and have recommended it to most of my friends.
Fantastic June 13, 2008 Denise Hurst (NW UK) 46 out of 47 found this review helpful
I think this is fantastic. Takes just a couple of minutes to make poached egg on tast with both ready together. The softness or hardness is set by measuring the amount of water you add and I've never had a hard one yet, without checking it once.
If I had any complaints at all, I wish it did two poached eggs at once (it does up to 4 boiled eggs).
Very pleased with it and would definitely recommends it
Genius Product February 24, 2009 Mr. A. R. Kapur 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
This product is genius.
PERFECT for the student life - all I have to buy are a box of eggs and some bread - Then I have a weeks worth of breakfast for less than 20p a day.
It poaches and boils eggs, which gives you some variety - plus it takes roughly the same amount of time as cooking the egg on a hob.
The cleaning is simple - takes less than 5 mins to clean - I clean it every 3 days.
ONE DOWN-SIDE - it only poaches one at a time - I usually have 2, so I am ok, but it is not ideal for a family/group breakfast poaching.
BUT - it does boil 4 at a time - which is why my Parents bought one - they have 2 boiled eggs each in the morning.
This appliance is a MUST HAVE FOR STUDENTS.
10/10
Excellent Gadget September 2, 2008 A. P. Catchpole (UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is excellent. Poaches eggs perfect, boils eggs perfect. They should really make one that cooks up to 4 peices of toast and 2 poached eggs.
It does do up to 4 boiled eggs though - very good.
