Icona Toaster - put your money where your mouth is! February 4, 2009 J. L. Corden (uk) 43 out of 43 found this review helpful
Bought this toaster & the matching icona kettle in red. Noticed by all who enter our kitchen & tried by all, well at least the kettle. It has several settings (frozen, reheat, bagle, this toasts one side & warms the other & cancel)it takes 4 slices, we have warbertons bread which is quite large & it fit's in & toasts ferfectly. There are individual toast colour settings for each side of the toaster, this has saved some bread & arguments as daughter likes it barely done & husband turns dial when daughter not looking to darkest brown (on previous toaster). At the rear there are 2 crumb trays, they seem ok to get out perhaps a bit fiddly to get back in but ok. The toaster seems quite quick but then it depends on how dark you have it & it is very evenly toasted. The paint quality is good & doesn't show finger marks. There is a recessed area around the top in stainless which does show a few marks but then I suppose it is more durable for constant wiping than a painted surface, crumbs do collect between the two. All in all worth the money & i think the best toaster we have ever had. Happy Toasting!
A thing of beauty - and practicality May 3, 2009 S. J. Cuthbertson (West Sussex, United Kingdom) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Since having a rather monochrome new kitchen installed, I've been collecting red items to brighten it up. Okay, that's a poor excuse for buying this particular toaster, which is rather expensive. But it's so beautiful that desire soon overcame penny-counting. And I'm delighted to report that it isn't just a pretty face. It produces evenly-browned toast every time, even with the sometimes oddly-sized slices that we cut from our home-made bread. It also toasts hot-cross buns on one side to perfection and the re-heating facility is a boon - it doesn't dry out the toast or affect the brown-ness. Now I'm seriously considering the matching kettle.
Can I drive it as well? July 6, 2009 Mrs. I. Lacy-hulbert (London) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this toaster (and also a matching red kettle) after reading all the reviews. I must say, it looks really stunning. It has a nice feel to it too. The toast come out great, I like the fact that you can put two separate sides on different settings. I.e. I use frozen toast for my baby, so use the 'defrost' on that side, and for myself I use just a normal funcion on the other side. I like the look and the paint finish. When my husband saw the toaster first, his remark was 'wow, you parked this one nicely, can I drive it as well? Definitely worth the buy. The kettle too.
best toaster ever purchased September 26, 2009 tony (glasgow) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
looks great, but also toasts great, best toaster we have bought, only comment is that the press down levers were a bit stiff, sprayed with wd 40 and 3 in one oil, after working that into the levers for couple of minutes it was perfect.
Style and substance over everything else July 12, 2009 Mr. V. R. Kuipers (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Buying one of these is one of those rare occasions when you get both style and substance in nice harmony. It's well worth the extra few (and it's only a few) pounds over other models. Spread those extra few pounds over the toaster's lifetime, and you'll quickly realise that it's a no-brainer.
