5 out of 5 stars Russell Hobbs Glass Toaster   March 11, 2004

Elegant design and solid construction, it is pleasingly heavy and looks durable. Single full length slot two slice toaster which is what I was looking for. The toasting element is a grid of single hot wires which give even toasting across the slice. Cool surfaces. Removeable crumb rack. Controls simple and effective, select degree of toasting or toast from the freezer by pushbutton. Looks great in the kitchen. A toaster for life.
Perfect.

Granted, we have only had our toaster since Christmas 2007, but I'm impressed with it. It looks good and toasts perfectly everytime, bar the pieces of "Slim Slice" brown bread which tend to get caught on the inside grate instead of popping up when ready. This can't really be blamed on the toaster however as Slim Slice bread is half the size of an average piece of toast.

We have however been using our toaster regularly without any faults, electrical or otherwise. We did adhere to the user manual however, which advises that the toaster be switched off whenever it is not actually in use. Thus we switch it on to make toast and then promptly switch it off again after. Perhaps the electronical components within the toaster just can't handle being permanently "on" all the time.

Other than having to switch the toaster off between toasting, this is a fine product, it looks good in our kitchen and we're enjoying the crumb tray immensley. :)

Bought this toaster when it first came out. It's still as good as the day I bought it. I haven't had any of the problems mentioned in any of the reviews. It toasts very evenly and the range of adjustment seems to work properly for the things that I toast.

The first thing that attracted me to this toaster was it's unique looks, this was improved once it was plugged in and switched on, by the red subtle control lights. To top it all it it produced evenly cooked toast.

3 out of 5 stars Good-looking but temperamental   January 19, 2007

I bought this toaster a while ago to complement a shiny new kitchen, recently finished. My wife and I now hold our breath whenever we carefully push down the lever to make toast: not too hard and not too heavy, just wait until the little red light comes on, then quietly take your finger off - and hope the bread doesn't immediately pop back up. It works if you've kept a deft touch and eye, otherwise you just growl at your reflection in the chrome. Not a machine for a hungry family. The panini machine in the same range is much more robust.
