Two major problems

One is that it doesnt toast evenly. You have to turn it up to max to ensure that both sides are browned otherwise one side is hardly toasted at all.

Two is that the toast cannot be raised sufficiently which means that unless the bread is enormous you are forced to poke it our with a knife or dig deep with your fingers!

Positively dangerous if you have children especially as bagels etc are almost impossible to extract.
