Looks great and toasts evenly.November 21, 2008 debbie8355(Devon, UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have owned this toaster for a year and I really like it. It looks fabulous. It also is the first toaster I've had that toasts both sides of bread evenly. As I like my toast fairly pale brown with other toasters I've always had to compromise with having one side overdone and one side underdone. This has coped well with all standard widths of bread. I've not tried it with tea cakes but the slots would be wide enough.
There are 8 browning settings plus you can set your dial to any point between settings. There is a switch to use it as a 2 slice toaster or a 4 slice toaster. There is a button to use for frozen bread. A rewarming button (which I never use) and a cancel button.
The main lever on the front centre of the toaster needs to be pushed down to start the toaster. It pops up automatically at the end of toasting. You can also push this lever further to the top of the unit to make getting small items like scotch pancakes out easier. It raises them higher up.
There is also the usual crumb tray that pulls out for easy cleaning plus 2 warming racks which fit over the top of the toaster. I've never had the need to use these but again they are sturdy and well made.
It's a lovely looking toaster which does what it's meant to do well. The only criticism I have that if you immediately do a second lot of toast you need to turn the heat down slighty to get the same effect and browness. I expect this is the same with all toasters though as once they are heated up bread toasts quicker. Still a tiny bit annoying for those who like their toast an exact shade of brown.
