Extravagant and splendid November 19, 2007 1 in 60,776,238 (Cheshire) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I must be bored to review a toaster, but... A silly amount of money to spend on a toaster, maybe, but then there are plenty who would readily splash out on a Dualit. I've tried both and, frankly, there is little comparison - this one looks less brash, is much sturdier and has better functions and control than the Dualit. 2 long slots are much more flexible than 4 short ones.It even chimes a cheery bell when it pops up - helps with Monday mornings. Just make sure you've got sturdy worktops that can take the weight.
No regrets March 13, 2008 A. Read (Scotland) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Never thought I'd spend this much on a toaster. Took me weeks to hit the chekout button. Have to say though - it is rather wonderful! It's one of the few four slice toasters with two long slots, rather than four short ones, so you can do nan bread, pittas, and other long things. You can also choose to have only one slot lit, or even better only one side of each slot lit, which I've never seen before, but is great for tea cakes, or toast before you grill cheese. Most importantly of all - the toast comes out crisp, and perfectly evenly toasted. The dial works accurately (last one could burn even on a 1) and when it's done it pings and slowly raises the toast - very impressive! Yes, there are better things to spend the money on, but I have no regrets, it's fab.
Another Brilliant product September 25, 2008 Cinderella (Lancashire, UK) A really good, attractive, well built toaster. Pricey but worth every penny. It even rings when the toast is done! Its versatile, toasting different shapes and thickness of bread etc. Brilliant for those who make their own bread! It is quite heavy but that is due to the build quality. Should last a life time!
What a disappointment! October 5, 2008 Looby Loo (South East England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is a big decision to spend this much on a toaster, but we wanted something heavy duty and reliable. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but for this much money I did not expect uneven toasting, difficulty getting the lever to stay down (3-4 attempts each time), toast that gets more and more burnt with each succesive use etc etc. All in all we returned this toaster 3 times for replacement. I think we gave it a fair trial. Eventually we gave up on it, and spent half the amount on a cafe series Breville which turns out beautiful toast time after time.
