Must be a new design fault January 9, 2008 Jodes (London) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was quite surprised by the reviews for the Siemens Porsche designed kettle as I've had mine(older style admittedly but basically the same kettle)for over 8 years now. It has never leaked (unless I overfilled it), it has never broken down, I've descaled it although probably not regularly enough and it's quite a quick boiler if you don't overfill it. I was considering buying a new one - but not because it was no longer efficient - I just fancied a more retro-styled one, but to be honest I can't justify throwing out a perfectly good in fact absolutely brilliant kettle. Especially when my mum-in-law has had in the same time period about 6 different makes, ranging from very trendy and expensive to Asda specials (which incidentally lasted the best for her).
0 to boiling in a couple of minutes December 28, 2007 IG Mucklejohn (Newbury, Berkshire, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having read all the negative comments, I thought of buying a new example of the previous model that I spotted on eBay. It was going for more than the price of the current model. Perhaps the bidders knew something I didn't. My previous Porsche Design had been pretty good and only failed after seven years when I washed it over-enthusiastically. Nevertheless, I decided to go for the new one as changes to German products tend to be thought through. I have experienced none of the downsides some of the other reviewers mention. My previous kettle dripped a little. This one doesn't drip at all. It can be switched on to boil another jugfull of water after only a few seconds, while the previous kettle needed a couple of minutes to re-set itself. The controls feel sturdy; the finish is impeccable and the styling superb. It boils fast and is easy to keep looking good. I'm delighted with mine.
Really good quality, safe and easy July 19, 2008 mandarin 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I read these reviews after I already ordered this kettle, so I got a bit scared! but decided to try it out anyway. A few months down the line and I can say that nothing has happened to this kettle. I love it, it's perfect. When you see the interior of this kettle, there's no way it could "leak". I think a lot of the negative stuff is about the FIRST generation Porsche kettle. There were a few probs indeed with things in that range, but this is the 2nd gen Porsche design. It's absolutely sound. VERY FAST TOO.
7 years and still going strong February 29, 2008 Kate (London United Kingdom) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was very surprised to see how negatively this product had been reviewed. We bought our Porsche kettle 7 years ago and we've never had a problem with it. Coincidentally my parents commented only a couple of weeks ago that it had outlasted a number of cheaper kettles they had had over the same period. Based on my own experience I would recommend this product highly. It is still the best looking kettle on the market and does the job perfectly.

I have recently purchased this kettle despite the reviews, the reason being i bought this kettle because the style and design , if i had wanted a practical kettle i would have gone to asda and spent 3 but i have a modern kitchen and wanted something to compliment it so i purchased the toaster as well , i change my kettles every 6 months anyway so people who have had then for 4 years plus and are complaining , i suggest the buy one from asda or use a saucepan on the stove , we live in a throw away material society and if that was not the case they would not have spent 80 plus on a kettle in the first place . its different to all the other same as kettles on thee market at present and you pay more to be different . looks great, works great just which they did more items in this range .
