No scum here! September 27, 2008 Peanuts (London UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
This kettle would look good in any kitchen. I like the way the internal lighting changes colour too! The kettle boils in no time at all leaving no scum or film! Although expensive, it is well worth the extra in every way. A wonderful item indeed
Top Funky Kettle November 24, 2008 D. R. P. Owen (London) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Everyone comments on this kettle when they come round. It looks great and does what it's supposed to. I'm not sure how environmentally friendly it is with its lights (but I switch it off at the plug when not in use) and it's difficult to tell exactly how many "cups" you are putting in as the water has to go through the filter area before you get to see it in the kettle - but you soon learn! Water is filtered perfect and living in London it clears the scum off your tea nicely. It is quite heavy based on other kettles we've had.
JK164 filter kettle July 13, 2008 J. Wincup (worcestershire, UK) 43 out of 45 found this review helpful
I had read some reviews saying that you can't taste the difference and the lid is stiff and is slow to boil. All I can say is I live in a very hard water area in the south of the uk and my coffee wasn't scummy, I didn't have those rings around my mug when you leave a bit of coffee in it, and best of all my teeth didn't have that film over them. Ok I've only just got it, but I'm very impressed, it also only took about a minute to boil instead of the usual 3 or more. The lid is a release button, which may wear, but I got the extra insurance for a tenner for 3 years which replaces it anyway if it breaks.

Brita Maxtra 9 Pack Water Filter Cartridges (+3 Free)
This Kettle is well worth Purchasing, a little bit more expencive than ordenry Kettles, but is worth it your hot drinks tast much better and the lights on the kettle look well cool, and a keep warm button enables you to make hot drinks without having to reboil the keetle and wiil keep the water hot for several hours. I have had no problems at all with this and am very pleased with it. The only problem is the Britta cartidges you need fot the kettle can work out a little expencive, concidering you have to change it every 4 weeks.
Fantastic, wouldn't go back to a normal kettle July 19, 2009 M. Bray (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having read the mixed reviews on this i was somewhere between wondering whether it would work and really relating to scummy tea cup as i set this up but it really is fantastic.
Living in north london the water is much harder than i was used to up north and i was getting sick of having to descale my kettle only to have scum on my tea and nasty feeling teeth within a few weeks so this was a perfect solution. The water actually runs through the filter very quickly, i would suggest within a minute, certainly nowhere near as some suggest, and it is rapid boil too.
The luminating light switches between various shades of blue, purple, green and yellow, and although i havent noticed this relating to boiling point in any way it does remind me to turn it off when not in use (or saves me from walking into a dark kitchen at night).
The keep warm function is also a great feature as its really handy when cooking or if im in for several hours to have the water already hot as it doesnt seem to ever begin to boil dry.
I've noticed some reviewers referring to it being top heavy but i wouldnt really agree. I suffer from tendonitis in my right arm and haven't found it to be an issue at all.
Having used this for only a few months i dont think i could now go back to a normal kettle, although i dont think its neccessary to change the filter as often as suggested. The light indicates a four week timer, however this usage is based on a 2.4 children family so it will vary between houses i think.
