Great kettle, looks great and boils water very quickly. I am very happy with my kettle, and the Satin finish is very smart and low maintance

Bought this kettle on the 6th of January. Looks great - good colours on the LED's, boils quickly, stays fairly clean. However, on the 26th of February the handle on top of the lid disintegrated in my wife's hand! Looked like the incredible hunk had fancied a cuppa! Russell Hobbs service agents, Salton Europe LTD. are supplying a new lid so all's well there, but be careful when you take the top off yours.

This is a stylish and functional kettle. It does collect limescale quite heavily and needs a thorough clean every few months (wiping the stainless steal surface is not enough), but it certainly does its job very well. I bought mine some 18 months ago from Amazon and have had no trouble in all that time, I even bought a second one for a friend of mine and hers too has remained in excellent, working condition. The boiling time is not what I'd call 'rapid boil' as descibed here in the product information, but it is certainly quicker than your average.When filled with boiling water the lid does get extremely hot and tends to be hard to remove and so I've often found it neccessary to use a towel in order to remove it if I plan to put more water in as soon as it's boiled, so for that reason I wouldn't recommend this particular model for the elderly, or those people with less than a reliable grip. Also, one last negative point- the lead from the kettle base to the plug is quite short, so it's neccessary for the kettle to be placed on a counter close to a socket. But despite these minor negative points, which I'm sure most kitchen appliances of this kind will suffer from, this remains a reliable and attractive kettle.

We got this kettle a 2.5 years ago as a wedding present and we've had no problems at all - in contrast with some other reviewers, ours still works perfectly!
The kettle is finished in satin steel, which wipes clean fairly easily. In contrast with some basic cordless kettles, its position on the base is non-directional and so you don't have to worry about fitting it on a precise spot, which is handy. It has a built-in scale-filter and a concealed element, and a fully-removable lid. The 'on'-switch is at the base of the handle and illuminates when the kettle is on.
Pros: Boils rapidly, even when full. Ergonomic shape is quite attractive and the whole unit is fairly compact for this style of kettle.
Cons: It *is* noisy; but given it only takes a couple of minutes to boil, it's not a major cause of concern (for us, anyway).
