Its not that bad!! December 19, 2008 Darren Dowd (BFPO 57 (Cyprus)) As most of the other reviews stated, we bought this for the 'decent' brand name of Morphy Richards. However, unlike the others, we've had it nearly SIX years, only had to replace the limescale filter once (due mainly to my clumsy finger when taking it out to wash it!). This has done us on a 'tea-loving' family, in 3 heavy 'limescale' areas and it's only just given up the 'ghost', with a temperamental switch. Yes it's loud on boiling, but most of today's 'rapid-boilers' are. Easy to clean, just chuck some Oust anti-scale in it for 20 mins every 3 months (in a heavy scale area). Can't complain. In fact would would still buy another one, if they weren't out of stock, so elsewhere I go. Never mind.
18 months and bust! January 31, 2007 Iain P. Wishart (EDINBURGH UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle as I liked the sleek stainless steel look. The red switch no longer stays on and the kettle has 'given up the ghost' after an 18 month stint. It's not as if we have even used it much at all as we make real coffee using a different machine! My last kettle (a stainless steel Alessi fake from M and S) lasted 6 years so this kettle proved to be real let down and has been sent for recycling. 18 months is not good enough - even in today's throw away society! It's a thumbs down from me!
Rubbish! May 15, 2007 Alison (Warrington, UK) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is my first ever review so imagine how upset I am with this kettle! I've now had 2 of these kettles; the first one blow up after around 2 years so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and got another one, if nothing else, so it continued to match the toaster. After less than 6 months, the new one has developed a leak from beneath the handle and now leaks all over the worktop - not very safe I'm sure! At around the same time, the toaster went 'pop' and now only one side toasts. So, I've now got a very good excuse to bin them both and start again....
DO NOT BUY IT! September 12, 2007 Samantha Burke (Birmingham, England) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle as a present for my mother as her old kettle had given up the ghost after 15 years! I wish I had bought her something else as this one only lasted 8 months, you can only imagine my disappointment. The kettle looks good and with a brand name like Morphy Richards you would of expected more. The switch does not turn on or off which is pointless if your dying for a cuppa!
Poor value and dangerous October 22, 2007 Linda J. Gregory (London UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle because it looked so sleek and shiny and I trusted the brand name Morphy Richards. After six months, the switch would not stay down and I took to holding it in order to boil water. One day I turned it on and the mains switch "tripped out": total darkness late at night and no torch handy. I went out and bought a replacement kettle. I hadn't kept the box, nor the receipt so didn't think to take the first one back. I thought it must be a one-off fault, so I purchased another Morphy Richards 43058!! 18 months later, this one has the same fault. I'm glad I thought to read your other reviews. I'd rather spend more and find a good quality kettle. It's a shame because I still like the look of this one.
