5 out of 5 stars Magimix Le Glacier 1.1 Ltr ice cream maker   June 16, 2008

Great little machine. Simplicity is the art of design and this is it. Every part disassembles and reassembles with the minimum of effort; just a gentle click. Cleaning is therefore a doddle as is using this machine. Just follow the instructions, i.e. pre-freeze, make a mix which takes little time and effort and pour into the machine whilst it is running. The tastiest, freshest ice cream is the result with no preservatives, colouring or flavouring. You can even use skimmed milk and that special sugar with virtually no calories if you want to. How can anyone have a problem with that?

5 out of 5 stars Easy to use, makes great ice cream   December 21, 2009

Quite frankly I cannot believe some of reviews of this gadget - it's only got 5 pieces including the bowl, how hard can it be to put it together!! Honestly, if you can't tie your own shoelaces then don't buy this, it's not for you! For everyone else it's dead easy to put together and use. Leave the bowl in the freezer, make your mixture, chill the mixture in the fridge, get the bowl out of the freezer when ready and off you go. 15-30mins later you will have gorgeous soft ice cream.

Make sure you whisk the mixture well, one vital ingredient most of the recipes miss out is air.

The consistency is excellent. It's best to serve the Ice Cream immediately because if you put it in the freezer it goes rock hard.
I was actually on my way to buy a Phillips ice cream maker in Currys, but they only had a magimix in stock so I bought this instead. Never looked back.
Our Freezer is huge and tall so never worried about freezing the bowl. Phiilips takes 16-24 hours to freeze while Magimix takes just 12 hours to freeze.

@tupennytiggy I know what you mean with that problem, sometimes the paddle doesn't work properly. The cause of that is, you know the little hole around the inner rim. Well sometimes it's filled with solid ice, so the switch can't fit into the socket properly. Make sure you FULLY DEFROST the inner rim to remove any excess solid ice, before you start churning. T.Defrates just explained the same thing better than me sorry.
The paddle is not broken, it's designed to hang off the motor like thatfor easy removal afterwards.

@nutkins "nipper" Yes the cat does that with my printer, cats are fascinated by anything that's noisy or moving. Your cat won't knock the machine or anything, it'll just stand and watch, just don't place it too close to the edge of a worktop.

Fantastic product for an ice cream lover and so quick to produce good ice cream but I did find that the bowl has to be really, really frozen, 2 of the drawers in my freezer weren't quite cold enough.

Really pleased with this machine. I also bought the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Making book but found the recipes in the book supplied with the machine are just as good. You just need to know the basics and experiment to your hearts content. Well worth the money.
