5 out of 5 stars Smartplus - It sure is ! :-)   September 5, 2007

When I gave my first pressure cooker(an older Prestige model model 10033 Quick n'Easy) to my mother, I wondered whether I would find another one as good as my original. I searched many shops on the high street and unfortunately they only sold the stainless steel models. I prefer the aluminium ones because when cooking curries or indeed using garlic and ginger in the pressure cooker, aluminium is better than stainless steel as foods such as these do not stick to the bottom of the aluminium pans in general.
To be honest when I located the aluminium one on the internet, I was a bit cautious of the newer looking model due to the change in the design of the visual indicator and the new locking system.
However, once it arrived and after carefully consulting the user manual, I was most impressed with the ease and use of this newer model. I have no regrets over this purchase and would highly recommend it to perspective buyers. The new unique locking system is exceptionally better than the older models and gives you the added peace of mind that it will resolve any abnormal pressures more safely. (Luckily I have not had any such problems).
On my older model, I did have to order some spare parts, I went through the Prestige helpline number, and they provided me with a fast and efficient after sales service. Therefore, I felt assured that if anything was amiss with my new purchase I was confident it would be resolved. I have to add that I have had 'no' problems with the Prestige Smartplus cooker. It cuts down significantly on the time taken to tenderise meats, which was the primary reason for the purchase, it works just as splendidly on saving time on cooking vegetables in hurry. It's a God send for pulses!!!

Nice pressure cooker, much more modern than my last one. It does everything it should do without any problems at all. Quite reasonably priced too. If you are looking to buy a pressure cooker then I would certainly recommend this one.

My Mother has had the old fashioned type of Prestige pressure cooker for many years, which I watched her use throughout my childhood. On a whim after watching Jamie Oliver use a similar style pressure cooker to this one, to make one of his soups. I thought this must be a buy for me. Have just used to make a mound of potatoes for a cottage pie. Then went on to use to cook a selection of vegetables, carrots, baby corn, french beans, sugarsnaps and courgettes all in one go. Wow, no steamed out kitchen, one pot washing up. Found this very easy to use. Read instructions carefully, must get cooker up to pressure before reducing heat. I think cooking times are a guide line and cook to own taste, this comes with practice and use.

4 out of 5 stars does the job but tricky at times   November 12, 2008

As many other reviews ahev mentioned, I also had problems with not enough pressure being generated but soon found out that relocking again if not enough steam is being generated works, When working it is pretty quick, though I have found a knack of locking it correctly everytime.
