a good friend in the kitchen. September 1, 2006 Max Beaird (London, E10) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought one of these on the strength of a Which? magazine review back in the eighties. My faithful fiskar finally gave out about a month ago. For twenty years it kept my knives beautifully sharp. So glad to discover they're still in production. Easy to clean, simple to use, an absolute bargain. ps Amazon the cheapest on the net that I've found.
Ever used a microtome? November 17, 2006 Dr. D. Matthews (Ely) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've had one of these for these for over 10 years and although I use it daily, it still puts an edge on a knife sharp enough to shave with. That said, the action is very gentle and so I wouldn't recommend it for regrinding an already blunt knife. I've tried numerous alternatives over the years, but find them either too imprecise to give reproducible results (steels) or too aggressive in their action (most other kinds) to regularly use on expensive knives. Don't be fooled by the price; this is the finest knife sharpener that money can buy (until the patent runs out...).
Brilliant Knife Sharpener July 18, 2004 29 out of 30 found this review helpful
I have two of these knife sharpeners and use them all the time and for the price they are brilliant, putting a razor sharp edge on almost any kind of knife with just a few strokes in the sharpener. The only problem I have found is that the small grey sharpening stone inside was designed to be replaced, but I can't find any suppliers that sell them.
A MUST buy October 6, 2007 N. Tod (England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is one brilliant gadget. I tried it on my kitchen knives that were pretty blunt and which I was about to throw away. WOW is all I can say. it was money well spent and saved me buying new knives. It's very easy to use fits, neatly in a drawer and is one of the cheapest knife sharpeners around.
At Last April 27, 2008 Stephen May 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At last a simple knife sharpener that actually works. It may not be the most sophisticated piece of kit on the market and certainly not the most expensive. I've tried steels and whetstones in the past and been very disappointed. I now have all my Sabatier knives back in business and a pleasure to use again.
