Just bought my second one after 20 years March 7, 2007 M. Williams (Essex, England) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
I bought our first Braun grinder for my wife when she was a student in Brighton 20 years ago and have great memories of waking up at the weekend and enjoying freshly ground coffee. Finally one of the blades broke yesterday so we bought an identical replacement. I don't know of any other kitchen devices that are so well designed and made, and that last for so long without a single fault. Our first Braun grinder lasted 20 years, but the replacement we bought in March broke on 31st August, after just six months. I'm not sure how it happened, but there is a big chip in the clear plastic lid with splits radiating from it, and when I tried to use it this morning the splits spread further. Beside this problem, I have not been so impressed with the plastic used for the body of my new grinder because it seems that it becomes scarred more easily by the grinding process. It looks like I can't reduce the star rating that I originally gave, but if I could I would knock a couple off for this.
Excellent for grinding seeds too! February 6, 2007 J. Murray (Ireland) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought this item specifically for grinding flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds etc. and find it excellent for the purpose and very good value at the price. It takes only a few seconds to grind a couple of tablespoonfuls of seeds to a fine powder. I'm sure it's great for coffee too!
Ten cups worth of simple grinding May 29, 2007 Brockeim (Where the Wind Blows) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
We spend mornings together. Evenings are better spent separately, but mornings are when our friendship is the most piqued and perky. At about 6:00 a.m. I awake all haggard and gravel-voiced, not seeing any clear reasons for daylight. My view and the sun both lift more quickly when this coffee grinder is at work. I like coffee fresh, and carefully prepare it from prudently storing my beans to using only the heaviest cream and clover honey to sweeten the taste. To have the flavor I prefer most, I grind each pot's beans. Of all the options, the Braun Coffee Grinder is all I need. When it whirs, it purrs, happy to help me through the day's waking labor. I treat it well, never abusing it with harsh cleansers or hot water. I have made ten cups of coffee ground from this device. That is probably the limit of the grinding bowl. I never ask much of this one-speed friend. It turns on when I press the button. It turns off when I release the button. How fine a grind is based on how long it grinds. I only make one kind of coffee, so additional settings are not necessary. It wipes clean with a dry paper towel. Most of you only use a simple brewer, and will be happy with this grinder.
Great for seeds June 1, 2007 L. Jackson (UK) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Like a previous reviewer, I am using this product to grind flax, sesame, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I was sceptical about it being able to make a powder and thought I may just end up with 'bits', especially as I was using something as small as sesame seeds. However, after using it for the first time this morning, I was really pleased that within 5-10 seconds I had a very fine powder to sprinkle over my breakfast. I'm sure it will be great on coffee beans too!
A simple, compact and easy to clean coffee grinder February 1, 2006 47 out of 50 found this review helpful
This coffee grinder is so simple to use Fill the lid with beans, attach it to the base, press one button down for 10 seconds and job done. Rinse clean and store the cable in the base. I am now going to buy another one for my dad
