her best one yet! October 7, 2006 happy camper (manchester, uk) 86 out of 95 found this review helpful
I have all of Rachel's cookbooks which I love and use on a regular basis. Her food is delicious and easy to prepare - particularly for those of us with busy lives. This is her first hardback (I think), which makes it a perfect gift. Plus, the photography really helps give more of a sense about Rachel and how she presents her food. As always, the food is outstanding and the recipes/chapters offer many delicious suggestions for a variety of situations. Equally useful for cooking for the family (including kids) or for friends.
Excellent cookbook - recipes you can actually use January 15, 2007 S. Diver (Belfast, NI) 24 out of 26 found this review helpful
This was a Christmas present and I've already made about 5 recipes from it, all successfully. The risotto recipe was delicious and easy to make, as were the pasta and other recipes I tried. Some recipes are a twist on classic dishes, like the scrambled eggs with coriander and chili - really delicious! It's the first recipe book where I've used so many recipes. It is also the type of food you can cook when you get home from work or for kids, nothing overly complicated or fussy. Highly recommended.
Most used cookbook I own... February 17, 2008 D. Harris (Lake District, UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I love this book - I've cooked so many recipes from it and they all turn out great. I love Rachel's approach - there's too many tv chefs who use tv to show off their restaurant food, yet fewer and fewer people cook at home. This book is full of easy, great food you can cook at home for everyday meals. If you are having friends round, try the lamb tagine recipe - it's to die for!
Brilliant January 4, 2007 A. Platt (Manchester, UK) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
I received Favourite Food at Home and also Food for Friends as a Christmas present - and they are both brilliant; I look foward to cooking many things from both of them over the coming months. The home-made Tomato Ketchup really is quite delicious, as is the Summer Fruits jam. I've also made the Onion (Marmalade in one book and Jam in the other) which was nice, but it's got another week to mature before I really give it a good taste. The Summer Fruit parcels are truly devine. Both books are really well and truly worth buying.
delicious, straightforward recipes May 21, 2007 S Johnson 20 out of 23 found this review helpful
I bought `Rachel's Favourite Food at Home' after it was recommended to me by a friend, and I have really enjoyed cooking from it since. It is perfect for a busy working parent (like me), as the recipes are quick to prepare, healthy and use ingredients that are easy to get. The themed chapters are really helpful. I particularly loved the `Big Celebrations' chapter and made the Lamb Tagine for a Sunday lunch - went down very well. Have also made the Baked Meringue with Peaches from the Dining Alfresco chapter. Was so simple and the kids really liked it. I've thoroughly enjoyed making all the recipes I tried from this book. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
