Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Poor quality lets these down. Severely disappointed   October 7, 2008

I was given this beautiful canister for Christmas in 2006 along with the Pasta and Tea/Coffee/Sugar tins. I was extremely pleased with them and bought scales etc. to match. They were more expensive than others on the market, but I thought it was worth it for the quality I associated with Typhoon.

However, over the past 6-8 months the canisters have all developed rust on their bases, which has stained the windowsill and worktops where they are kept. We are not big tea drinkers, so they don't get masses of use or abuse. They are all kept in different areas of the kitchen, wiped down/dried when grubby and looked after. Every single one has extensive rust on the base. It's got to a point where I had to sand down the bases and re-spray them, purely to save my work surfaces. My friend also has the same canisters and is having the same issues as me.

I wrote to Typhoon to express my disappointment in their poor quality items and received a patronizing response telling me not to clean them with Brillo pads.

My canisters will be replaced with pottery ones once I am able to afford a new set. I urge people to seriously reconsider buying these. Yes they are beautiful and will be fine for a few months, but ultimately the paint quality is terrible and they will go rusty. Don't say you haven't been warned!
