Beautiful in it's simplicity. December 13, 2008 Nom-De-Plume (UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've ownwed this butter dish for well over a year now. It is, I think, beautiful in it's simplitcity and looks great on my kitchen worktop. It is big enough to store all shapes sizes of butter packs and it is easy to clean. I have had absolutely no problem with the wooden lid tainting the butter even when it has been left out during the hotter summer months.
Nice and big June 26, 2009 Cathedralmouse (Northumberland, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this for my daughter in Canada - they have 1 lb blocks of butter which won't fit in a conventional butterdish. This was ideal, it looks smart and its easy to get the lid off. She has not noticed any odour at all, as reported by some people.
Lovely item and no woody smell January 28, 2010 B0udicca (uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this butter dish a few months ago and have been delighted with it. It is a perfect size and looks lovely aswell. I read some of the reviews before I ordered it and was a little concerned about the woody smell that one or two people had commented on. I gave the butter dish and lid a good wash in soapy water allowed it to dry thoroughly and took the advice of a previous reviewer and smeared a little butter around the edge of the lid. I have to say I haven't had a problem with a wooden smell at all and I would highly recommend this product. I would also like the matching bread bin but it is a little pricey! Hope this helps.
A little beauty and cat proof May 27, 2010 Breton Wench (France) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a beautifully aesthetic piece for any rural kitchen. Easy to keep clean too, and a definite advantage to anyone with butter loving cats, as ours cannot nudge the lid off unlike other designs.
Completely Satisfied. July 8, 2010 C. Freedland (England) Despite a couple of negative reviews I decided to chance this butter dish and I am very pleased I did. I followed the advice given by a reviewer to grease the lid and I have had no problems at all. I use it for my husband's anti-cholesterol spread. It takes the amount from a large tub. When I open a new tub I like to transfer the spread from the plastic container but if too rushed, I simply remove the top rim of the tub (with kitchen scissors) where there is no spread and this enables the lid of the dish to go on without any obstruction. I hope this is helpful.
