Having took a risk with this rather expensive coffee machine and I was very very surprised. The build is solid as you would expect from DeLonghi.
Its a dream to setup and with a push of a few buttons its all over. Which in a way is quite disappointing...when you pay this much money you sort of wish you weren't making your first coffee in the first 5 mins.
Maintainence of the coffee machine is excellent, with easy to clean drip tray and used coffee bin.
The provision of a "plug-in" milk holder gives this coffee machine the real edge. You can store the whole unit in the fridge. When you are ready for a cappuccino you simply get the milk storage unit out of the fridge, slot it in and press one button. The system does everything else for you. After you finished simply press the clean button and the return it to the fridge ready for another time.
Extras such as timed start, self cleaning of the coffee delivery pipes, warnings when the coffee bin needs emptying or cleaning really gives it another plus point.
Ok..so its alot of money but its the best machine I have ever used.

I got this for making coffees at church, and it was a good investment!
I have this machine used to make about 15 coffees on a sunday, every sunday for the past year. Every week its been taken out, used cleaned and put away by different people. The great thing about it is it tells you what to do and isn't wrong!, it tells you to fill beans, remove grounds, fill tank etc... The difficult thing is possibly cleaning it and cleaning the jug or rather the top of the jug if milk gets up there! But I still rate this machine!
The grinder is a little noisy, but then you are getting freshly ground coffee.
As well as good coffee it makes awesome hot chocolate (ie use the frothy milk function, you have to stir in the choc yourself!)
The coffee is consistant, crema head every time, I've had to descale it once (its asking again though!)
things that went wrong!
this is not something I am particularly aggrieved at because it could have been user error! but was covered by warrantee
-dont take out the infuser (middle bit) and switch the machine on, the bit for locking it will disappear up into the machine! i am still not entirely sure how this happened but delonghi sorted it out ok! Just follow the instructions it should be ok!
The water tank (removable) has a magnet (or something) in the bottom which is used to tell you whether it needs refilling, should it come/break off while washing the tank, you are in trouble as it will say "fill tank" and not work!
We managed to damage the jug handle for the milk as well (in some way) dont know how, could be a stress fracture design fault, but certainly a minor one, It costs about [...] to replace but when I called up (today) to get it done they said they'd send it for free. (nice I thought)
The waste coffee grounds which were thrown away look like oreos, they arent!
Its also the only no-brainer whole cappucino (including nice milk) machine in the market that I could find. and therefore you can train young people and even students to use it.

having paid more than i would ever imagined for a coffee m/c especially one that was made of plastic i decided to delay submitting a review till after three months. Iwould recomend this m/c to any one who likes a good cup of coffee and not much work as this m/c does everything for you automatically and the instructions for same could be followed by a five year old the only thing you have to do is put the beans in the m/c and empty the drip tray when required

I was very surprised by how good this machine is.
It replaced my Gaggia Classic which incidentally made excellent espresso, so I was a little reluctant to replace it.
What a result! Great espresso with a great crema! Easy cappuccino. No mess, no hassle.
This machine comes highly recommended by me.

I debated long and hard to spend this kind of money on a coffee machine,wow it is fab, worth every single penny! very easy to use and produces restaurant standard coffee, has great range of coffee making ie:can have strong to mild,fab milk frothing for hot chocolate.
highly recommend far better than any other we have had in the past!!!
