Lovely and clean like new carpet! March 20, 2008 Mrs. R. Welsby (Warwickshire, England) 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
I had one of the old wash and vax machines which was good, but a pain to construct and hard work to use. I used this new one to do part of my lounge which wasn't a particularly 'high traffic' area and the muck and dust bunnies that came out of the carpet was amazing! However after doing a bit more cleaning the machine stopped washing so I rang the customer care helpline and got it exchanged very quickly. The replacement one is absolutely fine and now I have done the whole of my lounge and hallway. The carpet actually looks as good as it did when it was new and it smells lovely and feels all bouncy and soft underfoot! I like the fact that there are the brushes to really scrub the carpet and it heats the water so it lifts the dirt and it also doesn't soak your carpet. It is so simple to use the detergent goes in its own chamber and you just add clean water to the top tank and empty the dirty tank as needed. There is something very satisfying about seeing the dirty water being drawn out of the carpet. I would certainly say this is worth the money as I looked into getting my carpets cleaned by a professional and it would have cost nearly as much to have the whole house cleaned. Now I have the machine to use as and when I please. My Mum and friends have also requested to borrow it!! Plus another advantage is that it's guaranteed for 6 years so you can't go wrong really with this machine especially if you have kids or animals!!
It does what it says. May 12, 2008 John Bastable (Hampshire, England) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
This is the first carpet washer we've used and we are very happy with the overall results. We can certainly echo the other two reviews here. We've cleaned our ground floor carpets (2 rooms and hall) so far - mainly cream coloured with nearly 4 years of high traffic use. You may of course have to tackle the odd stubborn spot separately. The amount of dirt and pet hairs extracted is truly impressive. The brushes do a good job of getting the shampoo in and bringing the pile back up. We had good results with the stair/upholestry attachment too. Filling up and dispensing is all straightforward and the machine comes apart easily for cleaning. The vacuuming is effective and the carpets were completely dry the next day. We broke a handle (our fault) and help line were helpful(!) and sent us a free replacement which arrived in 6 days over the bank holiday. The 6 year guarantee is a definite bonus. Recommended. Top tips: 1. Read instruction thoroughly before you start. 2. Pick a nice day so you can open the windows, get a breeze going and put out any rugs you may clean. 3. Buy some carpet shampoo. The one supplied is just a sample (about 1/3 size) and you get through it quickly. The Ultra shampoo is very effective on high traffic areas but is not cheap. We used nearly two bottles on the ground floor but there are cheaper alternatives. 4. Get someone to help you move furniture around and to take turns washing and filling as it is quite labour intensive. 5. Buy some ear defenders. I don't believe its any more noisy than other cleaners but it is more comfortable if you are going to spend a few hours at it. Our local DIY store had some fairly cheaply. 6. Keep the dirty washer container, brushes and filters clean between washes. 7. Don't tell your friends and family. They'll want to borrow it!
Fantastic after my experiences with Bissell May 18, 2008 A Henry (Essex, UK) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
Having owned a Bissell powerwash pro heat for three years and had nothing but trouble with the customer service and spare parts people I finally cracked and bought the Vax V124. Fantastic is all I can say, it is easy to use, dries the carpets better than the bissell, my lounge carpet was a good test subject as it was covered in muddy dog prints, the V124 cleans far better than my bissell ever did and uses far less cleaning fluid than the bissell making it far less costly to use especially if you have dogs and kids and are often forced to clean the carpets. I am delighted with it and recommend it most highly. Another point to remember... With bissell you can only buy spares from them via their 0870 number, with vax you can simply buy from your local vax dealership. When I contacted vax by phone prior to purchace to test out the customer service departments level of service I found them fast and helpful and well informed about the product. Highly recommended.
Vax V-124 May 10, 2008 S. Lloyd (Norfolk, England) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Mrs Welsby's review and the manufacturer details are spot on. I have just bought this vax machine - the dirt just lifts out without leaving wet carpets. It's excellent for high traffic areas and if you have pets. The attachment for the stairs is easy to use. Also being able to use it to clear up marks/spills that occur over time with the attachment is really useful. My carpets have honestly cleaned so well they look new. This is worth every penny.
Well designed May 15, 2008 Bazz2004 (Willenhall,, West Midlands United Kingdom) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
We bought the V-124 after deciding that the excellent Rug Doctor hire option was too much trouble. The Vax dual-V technology which dries as you go seemed to be a great idea so we went with that even though you can buy carpet cleaners for far less. It's been used once and the carpet came up really well. The machine took out loads of dirt. Using it is hard work and we were very wary in case we broke anything. It's predominantly plastic. A great deal of thought has gone into the design. We haven't used the extension attachment but it also looks promising. Cleaning the machine afterwards was quite straightforward. You only get a small amount of the Ultra cleaner so stock up on more fluid unless it's a very small carpet. Hopefully, other makes will do. We've loads of Rug Doctor shampoo. Unused cleaning fluid is kept in a separate tank on the Vax and can be left in situ after you've finished. The Vax takes the shampoo and feeds it into a warm water section of the tank. Filling the clean water tank and emptying the dirty water from a separate tank was easy to do. The clincher when thinking about what to buy is the six year guarantee.
