A great little blender November 21, 2008 Ken Stevens (UK) 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
I've had this Kenwood for a year or so and use it regularly for those little blending jobs, including: making soup (blending some of the chunky bits of veg in the pan), mixing ingredients for backing, making smoothies, even frothing up eggs for a fluffy omelette (I tried mashing potatoes but that was a bit too much for it). It is robust, neat and small enough to hang on the hook provided, on the rail alongside our other implements (serving spoons, etc.).
Does what it claims to do March 18, 2009 John Nevill (Liverpool UK) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is a smashing little gadget for the casual home-cook. Left-over veg and the stock they were cooked in can be whizzed up into a vegetable soup in seconds, (OK, yes, you need to tweak the ingredients a bit, but this isn't a recipe book). My wife made three snacks out of the soup I made this way, when previously the leftovers would have gone in the bin. Just remember not to take it out of the pan whilst still running (as I did), thereby instantly re-painting the kitchen (and myself) in a style that Monet would have been proud of!
Nice little blender March 21, 2009 Mrs. Rosalind D. Bowen (England UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Easy to use, easy to clean and is actually rather more powerful than it looks. I like it. If you want an easy-going lightweight handheld blender to whisk up the lighter ingredients--you might well like this.
Kenwood HB150 Stick Hand Blender December 3, 2009 Jean Rattray (Perth, Scotland) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was a little dubious as to whether or not this blender would do the job I wanted it to. In particular would it be powerful enough to blend soup? I am more than pleased because for such a small blender it blends soup and other things easily and quickly. I consider it money well spent.
great device February 18, 2010 morcantha (brighton) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this hand blender quite a few years ago and use it at least a few times a week. It is great for making small quantities of breadcrumbs and for blending soups - you can really keep control of how smooth or chunky to leave the texture. I use it a few times a week for blending tomato sauce for pasta (my littlest children do not like lumps of tomato) and also for blending up pestos and spice pastes for Thai curries.
I originally bought it for blending baby food. Its main advantage is that it is SO easy to clean compared to my food processor. It's a big task cleaning thoroughly into all a food processors ridges etc and having to clean a large blade and bowl - rinsing the blender under very hot water is so much simpler - dry and put in the drawer - easy!
You do need to remember to blend in deep saucepan, bowl or use the beaker provided and to insert the blender fully in before switching on or the liquid will fly everywhere. Also, be careful not use your fingers to dislodge anything that gets caught in the blade whilst keeping your other hand on the handle as a very tired friend did and inadvertantly pressed the pulse - mangling her finger very badly and necessitating a trip to casualty!
Apart from these human pitfalls I find the blender very useful - it certainly gets a lot more use than the food processor which takes up much needed cupboard space and sits gathering dust- it is also a lot cheaper!
